ALONG CAME A GARDENER

My non-fiction book, Along Came A Gardener, has been percolating in my mind since the late 1970s. It’s part memoir and part self-help woven with stories from the world of mental health. It’s available for sale on Amazon, Kobo, Nook, Barnes and Noble, Apple, and more.

For an informative review, check out the one in The British Columbia Review.

Selena Mercouri writes: “Diana Stevan’s Along Came a Gardener is a masterful meditation on healing, personal growth, and the art of tending to the self, all framed through the evocative metaphor of gardening. Drawing on her twenty-five years as a family therapist, Stevan offers an insightful blend of memoir, psychology, and practical wisdom, creating a book that is as comforting as it is enlightening.”

And from The Seaboard Review of Books.

Lori Green writes: “Human emotions have always been connected to nature, and in her book Along Came a Gardener, Diana Stevan explores this connection as an author and avid gardener, along with her years as a family therapist.”

A Youtube Interview about Along Came A Gardener

I was thrilled to be interviewed by Sonia Bodnar for Ukrainian Kontakt TV, a network, based in Toronto, that has a large North American audience of people with Ukrainian roots. The whole interview is in ENGLISH. I’ve had a lot of interviews in the past, but this young woman came prepared. And she had read my book. She surprised me with some of her questions, but great ones viewers will enjoy hearing the answers to.

On the Back Cover of the Paperback you’ll find:

“An inspirational book based on the thoughts and ideas the author Diana Stevan gleaned from her 25 years as a family therapist combined with those she found in her garden. Recognizing that life is challenging, Stevan shows the many ways we can improve our lives, even when the future looks grim. She not only explores the nature of loving relationships but also the lessons Nature provides whether it’s in our back yards or in the forests.”

A Slow-Cooker of a Book

As mentioned above, I started writing ALONG CAME A GARDENER in the late 1970s, on a manual typewriter, back when I thought I knew a lot. Here’s a blog post from 2016 that shows what I had planned to write. I’m happy I waited until my senior years to write this self-help book. So much has transpired since the idea first came to my head.

I share the story behind the story in Allan Hudson’s “South Branch Scribbler Blog“.

A Shared Journey

We are all in this wonderful life together, but there are times when we all need help. I’m hoping Along Came A Gardener will give readers both hope and inspiration to carry on despite what they’re dealing with.
