The Story<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The novel begins with a 19th century love story and shipwreck. We then move to present day, when Catherine Fitzgerald, a divorced mother of one and a professional underwater photographer, gets a call from an old friend, now the editor of National Geographic. He wants her to cover a treasure hunt led by a notorious salvager for one of the lost ships of the Spanish Armada off the coast of Ireland. Having had a near-death diving experience, Catherine is reluctant. What she doesn’t know is that Fate will soon play a hand and steer her in ways she can’t imagine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before heading off on assignment, Catherine buys an antique Claddagh ring and begins to have nightmares of a woman from another time. Who she is and why she\u2019s haunting Catherine become as compelling as the treasure hunt she\u2019s been assigned to cover. As she begins to unravel the mystery of the woman who haunts her dreams, she has to come to grips with her own struggle to find true love. Her ex, a psychiatrist and the father of her child, still loves her, but she\u2019s drawn to the handsome but unavailable marine archaeologist on the dive team. Torn, she wonders if she\u2019s destined to be alone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Setting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This enduring love story required a lot of research. I’m grateful I could draw on our travel photos to Provence, Ireland, and New York city. Catherine starts off on a lavender farm in Provence, and then travels to NYC to meet with her editor. The west coast of Ireland beckons, both the quaint village of Killybegs and the deep sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
