Much to my surprise, I love discovering my mistakes and correcting them.<\/p>\n<p>The other thing that came to mind while I was editing was a comment a fellow writer said. &#8220;Why are you writing about something you don&#8217;t know?&#8221; She was referring to all the research I needed to do in order to tell my story. In the writing field &#8216;write what you know&#8217; is a sensible way to start. But I also believe it&#8217;s essential to write what you love. And what I love to do is to learn about the things I do not know. It&#8217;s almost as good as traveling to other cultures and experiencing them firsthand. In writing <em>The Curse of the Stones<\/em>, I learned about marine archaeology, scuba diving, underwater photography, treasure hunting, and cursing in Ireland.
