{"id":338,"date":"2011-04-20T11:50:28","date_gmt":"2011-04-20T18:50:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dianastevan.com\/?p=338"},"modified":"2011-08-13T17:34:05","modified_gmt":"2011-08-14T00:34:05","slug":"to-market-to-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dianastevan.com\/uk\/2011\/writing\/to-market-to-market\/","title":{"rendered":"To market, to market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My latest Writer&#8217;s Digest magazine steered me to <a href=\"http:\/\/jennybent.blogspot.com\/2011\/04\/think-of-me-as-conduit-not-gatekeeper.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Agent Jenny Bent\\&#8217;s blog<\/a> where I found the post she&#8217;d written on the state of the writers&#8217; marketplace. She shared her views on publishing via the traditional route or self-publishing.\u00a0 The notion of doing it yourself appears to be the beginning of a dull roar, one that could swallow the industry as we know it today.<\/p>\n<p>However, the idea of self-publishing is a daunting one. Not that I don&#8217;t have the initiative or the wherewithal to figure it out. It&#8217;s just that it would be wonderful to be in the hands of those who know the business best. The ones who can position my novel where it belongs. More and more were thinking of self-publishing. With time at a premium, and the marketplace changing faster than a chameleon&#8217;s colors, what&#8217;s an aspiring novelist to do?\u00a0 How much time can you give to the vagaries of the marketplace before saying, &#8220;That&#8217;s it. The hell with it.
