In my second novel, <\/em>I wrote a prologue. I’ve agonized over it, as it’s not short. As an avid reader, I’ve had mixed feelings about reading prologues, sometimes enjoying them, and sometimes feeling it’s taken the author too long to get going. So, I went online to see what others say about long prologues and I was pleased to find many established authors – Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Nathaniel Hawthorne, etc. have all used them to much success. Even Stieg Larsson, the author of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo <\/em>resorted to starting his novels with a prologue. And since there seems to be no better way to tell my story, I’m leaving it in and hope the reader gets as much delight in reading it as I had in writing it.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
